Elections during a Pandemic Chapter 7

As soon as the elections were announced to the 17 Legislative Assembly in Bihar, Election Commission of India on
September 29, 2020 announced bye-elections to fill one vacancy in one Parliamentary Constituency (Valmiki Nagar)
of Bihar and 56 Assembly Constituencies in Legislative Assemblies of 11 states like Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana,
Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. Voting in the bye-
elections took on November 3 and 7, 2020. e COVID safety protocol applied to these bye-elections in the same
manner as in Bihar.
