Curbing money power
Election Commission of India appointed more than 1650
Observers, mostly senior civil servants, to oversee various
aspects of the elections. Additionally, 12 Special
Observers, mostly retired civil servants, were also
appointed.
The Election Commission laid special emphasis on curbing
money and muscle power during the elections in the five
states/UTs. It forbade taking out bike rallies during the
campaign. The Commission, in coordination with
intelligence and law enforcement agencies, launched a
drive to curb misuse of money power. By the fag end of
elections- on April 27, 2021- seizures worth INR 1042.05
crore had been made across the poll bound states/UTs.
