                                                                               The Sixteenth General Elections, 2014 were staggered into
                                                                               nine phases- April 7, 9, 10, 12, 17, 24, 30 and May 7 & 12.
                                                                               However, in most of the states/UT (21), the polls were single
                                                                               phased.  Only  two  states  saw  six  phased  polling.  These
                                                                               elections were historic in terms of electoral participation.
                                                                               The voters' turnout stood at 66.44 percent. The imprint of
                                                                               SVEEP was evident in the electoral participation.

                              could  never  be  used  as  an  instrument  to  negate  the
                              elections. The highest polled candidate would win still.
